GeographyIran is a very strategical placed country. Because it is located to the north of two major water systems: The Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz, Iran has the perfect place of transport for its crude oil exports, which fuel the main economy.

This shows the total supply of Iran's oil exports along with their total consumption in barrels per day. As you can see, supply was low during the Iran-Iraq war, until it boomed around 2005. Recent sanctions, however, have brought down sales. Consumption has been steadily rising, as people use more and more of it for plastics and fuel.
